Build
✧ Streamlined, slim and compact. Nile is notably flat-chested and small-hipped, but still identifiably female.
✧ In her mer-form, Nile retains a hydrodynamic build. Lacking in any sort of overt curve, the woman forfeits the use of human legs in place of a long tail made up of corded muscle, joining seamlessly to her torso beneath her navel.

Complexion
✧ As a human her skin is a lovely honey-gold, mottled by scales of silver and black around her eyes, cheeks and shoulders in particular. She is aware she carries a somewhat abnormal appearance, but it bothers her little.
✧ As a mermaid, her skin becomes scales in a deep, stormy pewter, with lighter sections upon her face, chest, belly, and the underside of her tail. Dark bars and dots streak under her eyes like a natural warpaint, as well as coloring the bridge of her nose, with two paler 'dots' in place of eyebrows.

✧ As a human, none, though her fingernails are stained a russet orange.
✧ In her mer form, Nile bears luminous orange markings just beneath her eyes, upon each shoulder, along the curve of her ribs and at the base of her fins, spreading outward in a 'ripple' pattern. Her nails remain the same color.

Abilities
✧ Pearls - Nile's tears will form into freshwater pearls in shades of white, creamy ivory, and light pink. As is likely expected, she can form them into jewelry pieces, if she wishes.
✧ Scrying - With the aid of reflective pools or bowls of water, Nile can perform a degree of fortune-telling. However, anything gleaned is often to be taken with a grain of salt, as anything she uncovers is merely a possible outcome, and not something absolutely set in stone.
✧ Water manipulation - From offense to defense, the mermaid can call the waters to her aid, but only if the water is fresh.
✧ Tincture and potion brewing - Nile has a remarkably broad, in-depth knowledge of plant life, and has been known to offer her services in creating curatives for a wide variety of ailments. For a price, of course.
✧ Fisherwoman - It stands to reason that, as a creature who lives among aquatic life and lives off of it, she is excellent at bringing in sufficiently sized catches.
✧ Reed Flute - Nile nearly always has one on her person, and is notably talented at playing, though the skill is maintained as a hobby more than a profession. In the same vein, she can craft other instruments from reeds, bamboo and even bones, provided they are large enough. The musical skill may be a replacement for her utter inability to sing.
Weaknesses
✧ Dehydration. Nile is easily capable of surviving on two legs upon dry land for extended periods of time so long as she is able to drink or otherwise imbibe at least six glasses of water per day to maintain her health, more so in dry/arid environments and less so in high humidity.
✧ Seawater. Nile can thrive in brackish water, but the pure salinity of the open ocean or other areas of salt water are inhospitable to her for long periods of time. To rid herself of excess salt, Nile utilizes 'crocodile tears'. Specialized glands in the corners of her eyes secrete a highly concentrated saline solution to maintain salinity levels in her body - if she spends prolonged time in the sea, she must do this at least once every thirty minutes.
✧ Poikilothermic. Nile must spend at least a little time in the sun or in otherwise warmed waters each day to keep her energy at an optimum point. The colder she/her environment grows, the more sluggish she becomes until she is all but forced into a state of lulled hibernation.
